LONG Eaton United produced their best Northern Counties East Premier Division performance of the season to take a deserved victory.

Liversedge were on fire after a midweek cup win over UniBond Premier Division side Ossett Town and when Jamie Wasley rose unmarked to head home after 12 minutes, it looked like the floodgates might open.

But Nathan Watson's 30-yard free-kick clipped a defender on the way in to give the Blues hope with 31 minutes gone.

Shane Newton put them in front with a 20-yard volley nine minutes into the second half and he and Watson could have added to the score.

Liversedge pressed for the equaliser and Gavin Saxby's superb save denied Paul Walker and Long Eaton battled to the end against a strike force bolstered by the introduction of 6ft 7ins ex-Bradford Park Avenue player Luke Sherman.
