Non-contact boxing among activities as youth club reopens
A DERBY youth club will be back up and running next week.
The volunteer-run West End Youth Club starts again on Wednesday from 6.45pm to 9pm at St Anne's Church Hall in Watson Street and will run every Wednesday during term times.
The club, provided by the Darley Neighbourhood Board, is open to children aged between eight and 16 and police officers from the safer neighbourhood team will be at the sessions.
Activities include a Nintendo Wii, table tennis table and a pool table.

Ozbox sessions also start on Wednesday and will take place every other week.
The OzBox scheme involves sessions of non-contact boxing and fitness training that are free to youngsters aged 11 upwards.
Police community support officer Linda Ball said: "This is great for the kids if they are looking for something to do on the darker evenings."
The hall is at the opposite end of the church from the main entrance.

“Non contact boxing? Very sensible. I do hope that the table tennis will be played without the use of the highly dangerous ping pong ball. Those things can sting, and are certainly a choking hazard. In that spirit, I suspect that the pool table will not have any balls either.”
