Northcott fires Burton up table
MARK Northcott enjoyed a six-goal weekend as Burton climbed out of the Midlands Premier League relegation zone with two wins.
The Red & Greens won the first and arguably most important game of their double-header weekend, against relegation rivals Coventry & North Warwick.
Northcott fired an opener and they led 1-0 at half-time.
Coventry levelled through Tom Jackson's penalty flick after the break but Burton went back in front almost immediately with a drag flick from Jamie Cooper, before Northcott added his second to complete a 3-1 win.
Buoyed by that, the Red & Greens went on to edge a seven-goal thriller against Telford & Wrekin on Sunday.
Northcott was again unstoppable, scoring all four in the 4-3 win – a performance which has taken his current form to a remarkable 11 goals in the last three matches.
Another double header, this time away, now gives Burton the chance to climb further away from the drop zone.
They are at Northampton Saints on Saturday and visit bottom club South Nottingham on Sunday.
