Nurse's shock after winning £500 on Christmas lottery
A DIABETES nurse says she was left in "shock" after being told she was the lucky winner of a £500 Christmas prize.
Karen Gale paid £2 to enter the Derby Hospitals Charity Lottery – and won first prize.
She said the cash windfall had come at the perfect time.
The specialist diabetes nurse, who works at the Royal Derby Hospital, said: "I was really shocked when I got the call to tell me I'd won.

The charity lottery helps good causes and is drawn weekly, with prizes typically including hotel stays, hampers, balloon flights, meals and days at the races.
Extra cash prizes were up for grabs over the Christmas period.
Karen said: "I have been in the lottery for a while now.
"I have two goes each week and have won three times so far.
"I joined because it's a local lottery helping local good causes at the hospital."
