O'Brien, Freeman handed U21 chances

DERBY County defenders Mark O'Brien and Kieron Freeman have received under-21 call-ups.

O'Brien is in the Republic of Ireland squad for a friendly against Holland at Tallaght Stadium, Dublin, on Wednesday, February 6.

Freeman is in the Welsh squad for a friendly against Iceland in Llanelli the same afternoon.

The 20-year-old has won eight caps for the under-21s, who are managed by former Rams favourite Geraint Williams.

Freeman played for Derby in a 2-1 victory over Stoke City in a friendly at St George's Park, Burton, yesterday. Derby's goals came from Theo Robinson and youngster Charles Vernon, who is part of the under-16 squad.

O'Brien has yet to be capped at under-21 level.

The 20-year-old centre-back has been deputising in the first team for the injured Jake Buxton.
