Office block is `great news for Derby'
AN office building described as "great news for Derby" has been given the go-ahead for the former Princes supermarket site in the city centre.
Derby City Council bought the land, in Bold Lane, off the now disbanded East Midlands Development Agency in 2011.
Now the authority's planning committee has granted the council permission to build a detached office block with 25 units on the site.
Paul Clarke, head of development management at the city council said it was "great news for the city".

He said: "The units are of various sizes for up-and-coming businesses to help them grow.
"We don't yet know what the rest of the site will become. We need to get these and see how they do."
Mr Clarke said he did not have a date for completion of the office block but he believed work would start this year.
The main part of the offices will be four-storey, with two three-storey buildings attached.
