DERBY City Council is holding an open day for people interested in adopting.

There are about 90 children in Derby from all age groups and backgrounds who need adoptive parents.

People wishing to adopt can be single, married, living as a couple, from any adult age group and they can be a parent or have no children.

Councillor Martin Rawson, cabinet member for children and young people, said: "We have held around six adoption open days at the Derby Quad in the last 18 months and they have been very popular with a number of visitors who have later become adoptive parents.

"There is a particular need for people to consider adopting single children over four years of age, sibling groups and disabled children.

"Many Derby children need a 'forever' family and our adoption team offers excellent support."

The team will be at Quad, in Market Place, on Saturday from 2pm to 4pm.
