TWO people have been charged with shoplifting in Ilkeston.

Officers have increased patrols in the town to combat shoplifting, which traditionally increases during the Christmas period.

An officer was in Boots, in Bath Street, on Wednesday afternoon, when he saw a man who he believed was taking toiletries.

Luke Meads, 31, from Ilkeston, was arrested and later charged with theft.
