Pair deny manslaughter of two-year-old Riley Pettipierre
A MOTHER and a man who is believed to be her partner have denied killing a two-year-old boy at their home in Derbyshire.
Riley Pettipierre, aged two, fell ill at his home in Kilbourne Road, Belper, at 10.45am on March 13. He was taken to hospital but died shortly afterwards.
Sally Dent, 32, and Shaun Binfield, 44, both of Kilbourne Road, Belper, appeared at Nottingham Crown Court, yesterday and pleaded not guilty to charges of manslaughter and cruelty to a person under the age of 16, by ill treatment or neglect, between October 1 last year and March 14 this year.
Binfield also denied a separate charge of causing or allowing the death of a person under the age of 16, being a person who was a member of the same household and frequently in contact with the child.
