Parents to be given tragic Charlotte Blackman's uni degree
THE grieving mother and father of tragic rock fall victim Charlotte Blackman have been invited to collect her first-class honours degree from the University of Derby.
Charlotte's family have paid tribute to a "bright" and "wonderful" woman who was one of the longest-serving volunteers at a charity for children with autism.
The 22-year-old, of Heanor, died in a holiday landslide incident in July. Now her mother and grandmother have spoken for the first time about that day and of setting up a memorial fund in Charlotte's name to help children.
Mrs Blackman said of the tragedy in Dorset: "The first I knew about what had happened was when my youngest son, Mitchell, and his friend came running over to me, covered in dust, saying Charlotte was under the rocks."
