Parents plan protest over gate at Langley Mill school
PARENTS of pupils at a Derbyshire infant school are preparing to protest on Monday about the closure of a gate that could mean an extra mile and a half on their journey to lessons each day.
Plans for the protest began when a nearby resident posted a notice on the gate at the rear of Langley Mill C of E Infant School, in Ebenezer Road. It stated that the gate would be padlocked from Monday.
Mum Jennifer Paget, of Langley Mill, said that parents were angry about the closure and were anxious to know if the action was legal.
She said: “I understand that a resident put the notice up after parents complained about dog mess on the path which leads to the school and two houses.

“Children have been going into school through the gate for decades and I can’t see how it can be stopped just like that, especially because of the long alternative walk.”
A Derbyshire County Council spokesman said: “We are aware of the situation and are working with residents and the school to try to resolve it.”
