Parents warned over bad parking
FIREFIGHTERS and police officers will be at a Derby school this week to alert parents to the dangers of bad parking.
They will be outside Alvaston Primary School, in Elvaston Lane, tomorrow, from 3pm. The visit was organised after firefighters noticed that parents were persistently blocking school exits.
Community safety officer Trish Arlott, of Ascot Drive Fire Station, said poor parking could prevent firefighters reaching the school in case of an emergency.
There was an added danger as children have to weave in and out of cars to find their parents or guardians, she said.
