A RESIDENTIAL road in Darley Abbey could be widened and parking bays created to stop cars churning up the grassed area.

The area's neighbourhood board has already agreed to pay half of the £13,743 cost of the work in Weirfield Road.

Now, Derby Homes' board for the city area is considering putting some money from its Estates Pride kitty to pay for the remaining half.

If it is agreed, planning permission will have to be sought before the work can be carried out.

The work would see the road widened, dug out and five car parking bays installed, as well as the kerb height being increased.

It comes following complaints of vehicles churning up the grassed area.
