A PENSIONER has died after crashing his car into the living room of a house.

The 89-year-old man was taken to hospital after the crash but later died.

The accident happened in Orchard Street, Burton, at about 1.55pm today.

The Renault Clio driven by the man left the road and ploughed into the side of a house.

A 20-year-old man was sat on the sofa inside the living room and suffered neck injuries in the incident.

He was taken to Queen's Hospital in Burton along with the driver, but his injuries not thought to be serious.

Staffordshire police said Orchard Street and nearby Park Street were closed while the debris is cleared.
