TWO thugs pinned a 97-year-old woman to a chair, threatened her and then yanked rings from her fingers in her own home.

The pensioner's grandson said he was desperate to see the "cowards" brought to justice after they left her shaken, with cuts and bruises to her hands.

The robbers got into Winifred Bloor's Woodville home through an unlocked door at 1pm yesterday and found her in her living room.

Grandson Robert Morton said the men threatened to kill the terrified pensioner.

He said: "One of them said 'Tell me where the money is or I'll kill you'. They smashed the telephone fitting off the wall so she couldn't call for help."

He said they "yanked" rings off her fingers, snatched a gold half-sovereign necklace from her neck and stole cash.

Mr Morton, 46, said: "Her skin is thin. Taking the rings left her hands bleeding."

Mr Morton said his grandmother, 98 in May, was able to get down a lane next to her home to alert a security guard at a nearby industrial site, who called police.

He added that his grandmother was shaken but "coping remarkably well".

He said she had left her door open as she was expecting a friend.

Mr Morton said: "We are always having a word with her about doing that but she was brought up in a time when doors were left open."

She gave police a description of her attackers. One was white, of large build, in his 30s and wearing dark clothes. The other man was also white and in his 20s.

Officers are investigating and anyone with information can call police on 101, quoting incident 266.

Believe me..............I will never plead to live under Shariah Law!

I'm more interested in the wellbeing of Mrs Bloor rather than your religious tendencies, thank you!”

“The ASBO lad from nextdoor to Mrs Bloor will know who did the crime, him and his mates are often seen around the back of her house 'shared entry to the back' smoking weed and drinking beer. They knew she was on her own and they are always out to make a quick dollar.

Or it could have just been a random conman who picked the right house of the thousands in the area? BS!”

“Yes, cave-caudex I am sure you would be very forgiving had it been your elderly grandparent who had been subjected to such an horrific attack. Get back in your box.”

Ok. Let's give this scum the benefit of rehabilitation then, shall we. NOT!
They deserve nothing less than severe punishment.”
