Philpott fire death trial to start on February 11
A NEW trial date has been set for a couple accused of murdering their six children in a fire at their home.
Mick Philpott, 55, and his wife Mairead, 31, will now go on trial on February 11 next year instead of in January as previously planned.
The couple appeared at Birmingham Crown Court yesterday. They denied six counts of murder at an earlier hearing at Nottingham Crown Court.
Jade Philpott, ten, and her brothers John, nine, Jack, eight, Jesse, six, Jayden, five, and 13-year-old Duwayne died after a blaze at the family's semi-detached house in Victory Road, Allenton, on May 11.
Paul Mosley, who is also charged with six counts of murder, appeared alongside the couple. The 45-year-old, of Cecil Street, Derby, has yet to enter a plea.
The defendants only spoke to confirm their names. The three were remanded into custody at the end of the two-hour hearing. Mosley is due at Birmingham Crown Court next month for a plea hearing.
