Planning office told me it was OK to build porch
I AM the homeowner involved in the dispute with the planning department over a porch built without consent ("Householder loses bid to keep 'incongruous' porch", Derby Telegraph, January 5).
I would like to clarify one major point. In June 2011 I had a discussion with a member of the planning office staff, during which I was able to give the dimensions and exact positioning of the porch to be built, and was informed planning permission was not required.
We therefore proceeded with the works and believe that we behaved quite properly and correctly in our approach to the erection of the porch and are not wholly at fault over this issue.
