PLANS for a new community fire station in East Staffordshire have been endorsed by councillors.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service asked for outline planning consent to build the new retained station in Short Lane, Barton-under-Needwood. East Staffordshire Borough Council has given its support to the proposal.

It will replace the village's current station and is one of 10 being built in the county. Seven existing stations will be replaced and three built in a multi-million-pound scheme.
