The 17-year-old moped owner was given the section 59 warning for riding his moped on jitty’s and park areas in the Stenson Fields area and causing a general nuisance.

PC Chris Fearn from the team said:” We have responded to complaints and concerns from the local community in relation to nuisance bikes and mini-motos in this area.

“The warning will stay with this particular teenager and his bike for one year. If he breaches the warning it will result in his bike being seized.

“A Section 59 will be issued to anyone causing alarm, distress or annoyance to the public on or off the road with their vehicle, this can and will lead to the vehicle being seized if the behaviour continues.

“We will target anyone causing nuisance behaviour which affects the quality of life for people in this neighbourhood.”

PC Fearn urged members of the public to help reduce this anti-social behaviour by contacting the team with any information on 101 or by e-mail to south.neighbourhoods@derbyshire.pnn.police.uk.

“Why cant they just have a crusher on standby? Every seized bike/moped gets crushed infront of the owner. You can guarantee word will get around pretty quick and the nuisance will disappear.”
