Police election candidates arrive to await result
ALL four candidates in the police and crime commissioner elected have arrived at the count to await news of the winner.
Simon Spencer, Alan Charles and Rod Hutton arrived first have been walking the floor nervously. At 1.35pm, the remaining candidate David Gale arrived.
Derby City Council leader Paul Bayliss also arrived to lend his support to Mr Charles.
Speaking to the Telegraph, Mr Bayliss commented on the low turnout of voters. He said: "I don't think the public have bought into the idea of the commissioner role. People don't seem to be very interested and I think the low turnout reflects that."

There's nothing like stating the bleeding obvious, is there? If this is all it takes to be a city council leader, I might try for election next time.”
