Police hunt for dog who attacked sheep

A FLOCK of sheep were attacked by a loose dog in Derbyshire.

Police said the farmer, of Middleton Road, Wirksworth – who owned the animals – only knew of the attack in a private field after being informed by a vet.

Officers said the vet had been alerted after the incident was reported to them by a passing rambler.

The farmer was told on the evening of last Thursday.

Police community support officer Sue Lester said: "If anyone has seen a loose dog running around the Middleton, Wirksworth or Cromford area, please call us, as sheep have been seriously injured."
