Police investigating after van driver is killed in A50 collision

A VAN driver has died following a crash on the A50.

The incident occurred on the eastbound carriageway, close to the slip road at junction one, near Castle Donington, at about 9.25am.

Emergency services closed the road while the scene was cleared, causing long delays, before the carriageway reopened last night.

Leicestershire police have not released the name of the driver and are continuing their investigations.

In a separate incident in Derby, a collision between a Ford Escort and a bus on King Street at 2.05pm led to a woman being knocked down.

The pedestrian was unhurt but the 20-year-old driver of the car had his vehicle seized by police after it was alleged he had no insurance.
