Poll shows UKIP ageing and predominantly male
LORD Ashcroft's recent 20,000-person poll is most revealing.
Of current UKIP supporters, 45% used to be Tories, 15% Lib Dems and only 4% Labour. I must applaud the Conservative Party's strong commitment to the UK staying within the EU. For once, they are putting the nation first despite the electoral damage to their position.
More interesting were the age demographics. UKIP is as an ageing party – 43% of their support comes from the over-65s, a mere 8% from the under-35s.
Young people have recognised that EU membership offers them advantages that we older people never had. They can travel, work, study and live anywhere in Europe, and hundreds of thousands do.

When I was young, I hitched to Athens. It took four days. It was a great adventure, with borders, passports, changing money. Now Athens is easier to get to than parts of Britain.
It's good for business, too. Exporting to Europe used to be a nightmare, with forms, customs and 27 different sets of national regulations.
Now, when my business exports, the only official piece of paper required is the postage stamp. As for regulations, all I do is comply with British Standards Institute rules and no-one can prevent me selling my stuff anywhere in Europe.
UKIP is also overwhelmingly male (66% male support, 34% women) – a party of old men who like to moan, offering no solution to the real problems that beset our industrialised society.
What right has an ageing, male UKIP got to take away our freedom and rights and do untold damage to our manufacturing and exporting businesses.

“Well I can assure your readers that i am neither male or ageing. I am however a member of ukip. A keen new member at that! I too care greatly about our nation, and the policies being foisted on us by Europe. I think you will find that it is the eu who continue to rob us of our freedoms and rights! If you go to ukips website you can read their policies on everything from policing to education. It's time to dispel the myths.Ukip aren't a one policy party. We are a fast growing party of common sense policies. Have a look yourselves ,you may be surprised. Tilly aged 32.”

“So Eric Goodyear of High Street, Colsterworth, Lincolnshire is writing to the Derby Telegraph and other newspapers, including the Leicester Mercury, http://tinyurl.com/d7tte7w with the same message and misleading information.
It does however prove one thing, and that is that the statistics concerning Ukip support do tally with the age groups of those who choose to vote at elections. It is clear from the statistics provided by the following website, the majority of voters are in the 65 plus age group, with a minority of 18 to 25 year olds choosing to vote at all.
http://tinyurl.com/c4thvu8
So according to Eric Goodyear, a majority of people who vote at all, actually vote for UKIP!”

“In Eric We trust LOL
Please see his comments in the Nottingham Evening Post regarding the Euro
How wrong you were about the euro and selling off the gold to support it.
http://tinyurl.com/c4zj2vd
Eric are you also not a member of the labour party? You always forget to mention that you have stood for them before and that is why you go around with your lies in a desparate bid to stop former labour voters moving over to ukip. Your statistics are rubbish just like your prediction on the euro.”

“What an amazing letter - The mis-information is starting early - even before 2013 begins!
In house research of UKIP members in Derbys shows rather different statistics with a 60 - 40% split of male against female members, 34% under 35 years old with growing band of college age members. Actually it matters not what a UKIP member voted in the past - Are you suggesting Tory, Labour and LibDem voters have never and will never change when a more appropriate option appears? if you are then so much for elections and 'democracy' All the electioneering is clearly a waste of time! You are suggesting the voters are sheep and asleep!
As it happens folks who voted Labour amount to around 40% in my area - maybe because it is more traditional area of Labour support. We also have a strong group of members who have voted LibDem in the past - around 35% - the rest have voted Tory in the past (25%).
Do not mistake the LibLabCON in action! The letter from Mr. Goodyer is a classic seed planting effort - written entirely because the LibLabCON is very worried about UKIP - worried because UKIP has the range of sensible commonsense policies that do appeal to normal, hard-working people, fed up with the same old rip-off Britain, lies and elitism of the LibLabCON.
Mr.Goodyer's letter is important: To get the truth of it - place it by a mirror and re-read - On the Economy for example - Cost of EU membership per day £53 million plus. Trade deficit = around £15 Billion (not dead sure on this number but it is a huge deficit!) - So we pay £ millions every day for a negative trade balance and to allow maoists and stalinists of the EU bureaucracy to force us to comply with the racist, anti-democratic rules, directives and regulations!
Try visiting Athens today maty - see the hungry and destitute - or try Spain for riots etc.
Happy New UKIP Year - As John B. Sebastian might say "it's a new dawn" - Or Steve Perry of Journey "Don't stop believing"”

“UKIP have a number of young members and candidates and has one of the fasted growing youth wings of any political party.
I myself am the local Chairman of UKIP in Gedling I'm only 31. The only party I've ever been in is UKIP
The ratio of UKIP members is more like 55% male 45% female. UKIP have a number of high profile young members for example Alexander Swan and Sanya-Jeet Thandi.
The EU disadvantages young people in the UK, we have record levels of youth unemployment. At the very same time local youth struggle for work, the European Commission scheme is offering nearly £1,000 to unemployed European youths to come and work in the UK... http://tinyurl.com/d8esu24
I've faced redundancy more than once, this is an insult! The EU does not benefit me or you.”
