PRIDE Park Stadium has been selected to stage matches in the European Under-21 championships in 2013, should England's bid to host the tournament be successful.

The home of Derby County is one of six grounds forming part of the bid.

Nottingham Forest's City Ground and Meadow Lane, the home of Notts County, have also been included along, with Chesterfield's b2net Stadium and Shrewsbury Town's Greenhous Meadow.

Wembley Stadium would be the likely venue for the final.

England, Wales, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Israel and Ireland have their eyes on staging the tournament.

UEFA delegates will study the applicants and make site visits before they reveal the successful bid at a meeting in December.

Pride Park has already staged full internationals between England and Mexico in 2001 and Brazil and Ukraine only last week.

The stadium has also been the venue for five England Under-21 internationals against Holland (twice), France, Germany and Spain.

"England have got a really good chance with the bid and Derby is a proposed city and stadium if the bid is successful," said a Rams club spokesman.

"It would be great for the football club and the city.

"We know we could stage it well.

"Pride Park is a fantastic stadium and we have shown we can stage these types of games.

"Fingers crossed that England can win the bid and then Derby would have a big part to play."

England has never staged the tournament but they reached the final in Sweden last year, when they lost to Germany.

Stuart Pearce's team have booked their place in next summer's finals in Denmark.

“Think you will find it was £30 for the brazil game but £22 if you were a season ticket holder, personally i dont think £22 was that bad a price for an entertaining game featuring brazil, i paid £15 to watch friendlys between derby and burton this season (an extra 5er taking it to £20 if i wanted to sit)”

“Spot on 5kin5. The promoters set the price not the club, as was the case with the Brazil match.”

“I don't think the club have much say in the ticket prices for events of these types.”
