LEFT-WING political group Unite Against Fascism has said it will join two other groups in a protest against a BNP festival in Derbyshire.

Red, White and Blue is due to be held on fields off Codnor Denby Lane, in Denby, for a third consecutive year, on August 14, 15 and 16.

Last year, more than 400 anti-BNP protesters took part in a march, organised in Codnor Market Place by Unite Against Fascism, Stop the BNP and Derby's Racial Equality Council.

The Evening Telegraph had previously reported that Stop the BNP and a new group, Amber Valley Campaign against Racism and Fascism, would be protesting in the same place on Saturday, August 15, from 9am.

Now national group Unite Against Fascism has said it will join them and is hoping to bring more than 500 protesters.

A group spokesman said: "We are mobilising nationally so we can get people brought in from around the country.

"We particularly want to bring people in from the North-West and Yorkshire where the BNP now have seats in Europe."

“I oppose violence from any quarter, in words or deeds.
But regardless of any political allegiance, people have a right to protest. I'm sure the majority
know that inciting any unrest will give them a bad press.
Therefore, I hope this will be a peaceful protest, that will also get the message across loud and clear.
There are millions of people in the UK that oppose racism and facism on the grounds of humanitarianism and democracy for all, not simply a reflection of their political allegiance.”

“I bet the residents of Denby are looking forward to this.
The BNP hold this event and cause no problems for the locals and then you get the people that call the BNP "thugs"turning up,and all hell brakes loose.”
