Pupils aim to be top of the crops
PUPILS from 11 Derbyshire schools are planting potatoes this week.
They are taking part in the national Grow Your Own Potatoes project, which has been organised by the Potato Council.
After planting the seed potatoes this week, it is anticipated that the crop will be ready for harvesting by around the week beginning June 21.
The pupils that grow the heaviest crop of potatoes will win an allotment makeover for their schools, including design, building and all the plants needed to get started.
