Pupils focus on the roads
CURRENT and future pupils at a Derbyshire school are taking part in a road safety and transport science and engineering day today.
Staff from the University of Nottingham will be working with pupils in the first year at Heanor Gate Science College and children due to start in September from local schools.
Activities for the event will include testing road surfaces and making safety helmets and harnesses for eggs to see if they smash on impact with a wall.
Pupils will also be looking at LED light patterns and researching bus design using vintage buses provided by Barton and Trent, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary.
