PUPILS at an Ilkeston school have planted 50 young trees.

The youngsters from Hallam Fields Junior School were given the trees by Erewash Borough Council's Pride in Erewash scheme.

The children were joined by scheme co-ordinator Richard Windsor to carry out the planting.

The campaign is spearheading a drive to make Erewash cleaner and greener.

As part of the East Derbyshire Woodlands Project, it has provided thousands of free trees for residents, schools and community groups.
