MORE than 150 pupils from six Derbyshire schools are involved in a music-making project about climate change.

It is being led by East Midlands orchestra Sinfonia ViVA.

Pupils from Chellaston, Lawn Primary, Allestree and Asterdale and Springfield primary schools in Spondon are among those involved.

The project will culminate in three concerts at Derby's Assembly Rooms on Wednesday, June 24.

The children will perform alongside professional musicians from ViVA to other school pupils in the afternoon, with a public concert at 7pm.

ViVA education manager Marianne Barraclough said: "The climate change theme fits in perfectly with the National Curriculum lessons that children are learning at school and will bring to life many of the issues that they are addressing in the classroom."

The project is supported by Rolls-Royce, Derby City Council, Derby LIVE, Bolsover District Council, Derbyshire County Council, Orchestras Live and Arts Council England.

Concert tickets cost £3 for adults and £1.50 per child.

Ring the Assembly Rooms box office on Derby 255800.
