Quick dash for Clarke
RIKKI Clarke will be hoping for a double celebration in Derbyshire's final Twenty20 Cup match of the season tomorrow at Leicester.
By then, he should be a dad for the first time.
The Phantoms' captain had time for a quick shower and a change of clothing after last night's defeat by Durham before leaving to join his partner, Harriet, for the birth of their child.
After top-scoring for his side with 36 against the Dynamos, Clarke said he wants to mark the occasion with a bigger score and a Derbyshire victory at Grace Road (5.30pm).
“It's been a tough year all round for me with the bat, not just in Twenty20,” he said. “I'm still trying to find my feet on these sort of wickets because I'm used to faster bouncy wickets but I've got to learn.
“We had a great start against Durham. Graham Wagg and Kevin Dean did everything we wanted them to do and we held our catches. It was looking like we were in the box seat but they put a lovely partnership together and took the game away from us.”
