R-R £288m aero deal with Turks
DERBY aero engine-maker Rolls-Royce has won an order worth £288m from Turkish Airlines.
The deal is for the enhanced version of the Trent 700 engine, which is produced at the firm's civil aerospace plant in Sinfin.
The engines will power seven Airbus A330 aircraft and the deal includes a TotalCare agreement, which will see Rolls-Royce maintain the engines throughout their service life.
Deliveries start next year.
Nick Devall, Rolls-Royce's executive vice-president for customer business, said: "I am delighted that Turkish Airlines has selected the Trent for its new A330 aircraft and we look forward to providing them with a world-class service."
The Trent 700, the only engine specifically designed for the A330, remains the market leader for the aircraft, achieving more than 70% of new orders over the last three years.
It proved popular at the recent Paris Air Show.
At the week-long event held last month, Rolls-Royce secured a £917m order from Gulf Air for the Trent 700.
