Railway station car parking could move during site works
CAR parking at the front of Derby's railway station could be temporarily relocated while improvement works are carried out.
Derby City Council has submitted plans to use a temporary car park off Carrington Street for parking and as a site compound while the station forecourt is improved.
Access to the compound would be created off Canal Street and new lighting installed.
The land was used as a staff car park by the former Derbyshire Royal Infirmary but was bought by Derby City Council as part of its plans to create the Castleward Urban Village between the railway station and the city centre.
Once the station forecourt work is completed, the land will either be used as a car park or to build new housing.
The council said the new lighting and use would bring activity to the area.
A decision is due in April.
