Rams loan star Sunu urged to use his pace
DERBY County manager Nigel Clough feels there is much more to come from exciting forward Gilles Sunu.
The 18-year-old French Youth international has made five appearances since he arrived on loan from Arsenal and he produced his best display so far in Tuesday's home draw against Middlesbrough.
Clough has told the youngster to use his pace to damage opponents.
"Sunu's pace frightens people but he has to learn to use it more," said Clough.
"Like most Arsenal players, he wants the ball to feet a lot which is lovely but he has to recognise that he is very quick, so needs to use that pace.
"Push the ball past a defender and go.
"He did it once against Middlesbrough out wide and went past David Wheater like he wasn't there. The defender brought him down and was booked.
"So Sunu has to recognise that side to his game but he's 18 and it is all experience for him."
Clough was pleased with Sunu's performance against Middlesbrough but at the same time was left a little frustrated.
"I think he has improved in each game but there is an awful lot more to come from him," said Clough.
"The only thing the other night that was a bit disappointing and frustrating was that there was no end product.
"He got himself into some great positions and we got him the ball in some great positions but he did not put a cross or a shot in.
"But this is his first taste of the Championship. He has played four or five times and is learning."
Striker Steve Davies was unavailable on Tuesday due to a tight hamstring.
"That was after just an hour's training on Monday and half an hour on Tuesday morning," said Clough.
Davies made his first start in two months and only his sixth of another injury-plagued season in last Saturday's defeat at Doncaster.

“Apparently he's hating being here and can't wait to get back. Hope it doesn't affect his performances”
