DERBY County are waiting for an answer from Leicester City as they look to land striker DJ Campbell on loan.

But they have been knocked back in their attempt to sign Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Frank Fielding.

Rams boss Nigel Clough wants to boost his squad with two players, a pacy striker and keeper, before Thursday's 5pm deadline for emergency loans.

Clough has asked Leicester about 28-year-old Campbell, who has struggled to win a place in the Foxes' team this season.

"There are lots of phone calls at the moment and a goalkeeper and striker are two we are looking for," said Clough.

"We have contacted Leicester and are waiting to hear from them.

"He (Campbell) is one of a few players we have asked about."

Clough is confident of bringing in a forward to help boost attacking options.

Derby currently have Chris Porter, Steve Davies and Kris Commons on the sidelines, meaning Rob Hulse and Paul Dickov are the only two fit frontmen.

"I think we will get somebody in but it is about getting the right quality. I think the main criteria is pace. The player must have a bit of pace."

Saul Deeney's ankle injury has left Derby looking for cover for number one keeper Stephen Bywater. They tried to sign Fielding from Blackburn in the summer and have now missed out on the England Under-21 international again.

"They (Blackburn) have knocked us back," said Clough.

"They do not want to let him out at the moment, so we are exploring other options."

Fielding, 21, has had loan spells at Wycombe Wanderers, Northampton Town, Rochdale and Leeds United but has yet to make a senior appearance for Blackburn.

“No disrespect meant (dog over there) but we travelled to Swansea last Friday to watch an awful no idea DCFC peformance on and off the field with 400+ other Rams fans! You should really keep your stupid thoughts to yourself when you criticise the Rams Fans. Your fans will never be as good and never be as loyal as us Rams fans. You obviously have no idea of how much time, money and inconvenience to support our team last Friday night! Criticise our team but don't criticise us loyal supporters. Up the rams and forest fans if you must gloat do it somewhere else because it is boring and unnecessary.”

“Don't be taken in by Forest's so called poor gates. From memory they get the 5th or 6th best gates in this division. We may well be getting 30,000 gates but I'd love to see what both clubs take in cash. As for debt at least they have an owner who the fans have heard of and he has been a Forest fan since he was a boy......and he is rich. We've been taken over by faceless people who haven't really any interest in Derby County. Just an opportunity to make cash...........or lose cash if we carry on as we are. As for support we are crap at following our club away. 300/400 fans for a club our size is a disgrace.”

“if you look at Notts Forest they are getting some good players in and I am afraid I hateeeee Forest,it hurts me to say that, when we next play them I fear that they will embarass us because of the lack of quality we have in our side, I think if we are relying on DJ Campbell , and other very poor loan players and Ras fans think of the rubbish over the past few years, some of these loan players I believe were brough into line the pockets of agents/managers and directors alike, there is only one way for us to go and that is down, I cannot see us surviving, people will say they are worse teams than us, well think again, look where we are, it is alright when we play the bottom 3 or 4 we look good however when we play the top 10 we have not got a clue we have poor players who think they are good enough but unfortunately they are not, they do not have the fight in them, I think Nigel has been given a raw deal, I believe, he was brought in to reduce the squad and given no money to boot, you can blamea certain chairman who promised the earth and the new owners for this. We have approx 30,000 each week watching the Rams and we are reduced to watching non league football, how far are we away from the premier league, light years We keep getting loan players look at the last time we had loan players we nearly got relegated, the rot has set in a long time ago even when Billy Davies came, we only survived for a while because the Chairman and the rest of the board will not spend their money they are happy to take the gate receipts each week, how many clubs can you say get more crowds than Derby, The fans are a credit to their team. How long will it be before we start voting with our feet and start not attending games. How many years now have we suffered third rate footballers. Honest Derby Count fansare being ripped off, how poor we have been over the past few years, a total embarassment in the Premier League, no a laughing stock and our record will never ever be beaten. look at the academy if we have no players why can't the young players play, answer because I suspect our academy and the people who run the club do not have good enough youngsters to come in its ok saying they are to young if they are good enough they can play anywhere, any way enough of my moaning and it is the first time I have ever written or done anything like this, I have been watching Derby Co for years and I am a season ticket holder, however it will be my last year, and i say that with a lump in my throat, but I believe the club are ripping us off and just paying us lip service.”
