Redfern and Hinds light up third day for Derbyshire
DAN Redfern and Wavell Hinds lit up a rain-hit third day for Derbyshire in their LV County Championship match against Glamorgan at the County Ground.
Redfern finished 69 not out in a score of 225-5, still trailing Glamorgan by 123 in their first innings, after Hinds had made a useful 54.
Together, they added 79 in 26 overs for the fifth wicket before the West Indian was caught at first slip.
There were two stoppages before lunch but in the 18 overs that were possible Derbyshire moved on to 121-4 in reply to Glamorgan's 348.
Dan Birch was out in the third over of the day when he drove loosely at a ball from Adam Shantry and was well caught by Alex Wharf at cover for 28.
Greg Smith added only six before he pulled a ball from Jason Gillespie straight to Gareth Rees at square leg to make it 101-4.
But the fifth-wicket pair steadied the innings and Redfern moved on to the highest first-class score of his career at the close, with Tom New on 19 not out.
