Residents get chance to help shape borough future
EREWASH residents are being urged to have their say on future development within the borough at a series of events this month.
An overview of proposals for all changes in Erewash over the next 15 years – new homes, jobs, shops, roads and community facilities – features in a draft document.
Erewash Borough Council has to meet Government targets.
These include identifying sites within the borough for housing.
The council has been told it should provide a minimum of 7,200 new homes in Erewash by 2026 and, while some of these have already been built, residents can play an "active role" in planning the borough's future development, the council has said.
Issues like employment, boosting communities by strengthening local facilities, improving and helping regenerate the town centres, transport networks and managing the borough's green-belt land are all part of the document, called the Erewash Core Strategy.
A programme of consultation events has been organised, where residents can find out more and give their views.
The consultation roadshows will be at: Little Eaton OAP Hall Monday, March 15, 10am to 5pm; Ilkeston Market Place, Thursday, March 18, 10am to 3pm; Long Eaton Market Place, Saturday, March 20, 10am to 3pm; Ilkeston Library, Wednesday, March 24, 9am to 5pm; Long Eaton Market Place, Friday, March 26, 10am to 3pm; Sandiacre Library, Saturday, March 27, 9.30am to 1pm and Long Eaton Library, Wednesday, March 31, 9am to 7pm.
