Weaving intricate webs, she creates the most wonderful words which appear overnight in her silky weave.

Just how Roger Haines, the director, manages to light up all these letters remains a mystery - but it was a fabulous touch.

As the story of friendship is told, one by one the animals bring the stage to life.

Special praise to the rat and goose - who really got into character.

Young members of the audience giggled as the animals dashed around the stage and some of the songs were just lovely.

At every available opportunity, everyone showed their appreciation with a round of loud applause.

The drama has been co-produced with The Birmingham Stage Company and is Derby Theatre’s First in-house production of the season. It was a great start!

It’s a magical story and one which needs to be told - especially at this time of year when families and friends play an important part at Christmas time.

It’s also nice to see something a bit different to the traditional festive panto.

I thoroughly enjoyed the production and lost myself in the wonder of it. My two sons liked it too.

We’d seen the film, so we knew the story, but this stage show was a delight.

It definitely melts your heart and on a cold night in December and January, so why not?
