Road works are due to start on Monday at the junction of Osmaston Park Road and Victory Road in Derby.

The work, which will involved the replacement of outdated traffic signals, is expected to last up to four weeks.

During the work Elton Road will be closed to traffic and there will be no access to Victory Road from Osmaston Park Road.

There will also be a temporary signalled pedestrian crossing across Osmaston Park Road during the works.

Councillor Chris Poulter said: “These road works will provide a much needed refurbishment of the signals at this key junction leading to Derby’s engineering heartland.

"It is imperative that we continue to improve our highways infrastructure to keep the city moving and drive forward Derby’s economy.”

While the work is carried out lane closures will be in place to ensure the safety of road users and workers and diversion routes will be signed.

The works will be carried out during the off peak period between 9:30am and 3:30pm Monday to Friday and some Saturdays to limit disruption.

“A main route into RR affecting deliveries and works/staff personnel as well as the RR intersite link bus. 3rd day in and nothing to show for it! Perhaps the workforce is being "shared" by The Uttoxeter Road "improvements" and the Manor Road fiasco roadwork's!”

“I can't understand why these jobs take so long. surely the cables are in ducts and new cables can be pulled through - possibly even whilst the existing lights are operating. It is a job that is done many times in every city yet we see men up ladders with bundles of wire. Why isn't it productionised and some of the stuff pre-assembled?”
