Roadshow is set to give advice on energy bills

ENERGY-SAVING devices and information about how to save money on electricity and gas bills will be available at the Fantastic Home roadshow.

Events will be held at Allenton retail centre on Wednesday, December 5, from 9am to noon and then at Alvaston retail centre from 1pm to 4pm. It will also be at Derby Road in Chellaston from 10am to 4pm on Friday, December 7.

Advisers from Derby City Council, supported by energy charity Marches Energy Agency, will be offering advice on energy efficiency, domestic renewable energy and insulation grants. They will also distribute free items such as PowerDown and Showersave devices, which can help householders reduce energy usage.

People will also be able to try out the Watt Bike to see how much energy they can generate using pedal power and what household appliances that would power.

Councillor Hardyal Dhindsa, cabinet member for planning, environment and public protection, said: "This project comes at a vital time for many residents who may be struggling to afford increasing energy bills.

"This exhibition is part of a wider project to help people bring their bills down and our commitment to reduce carbon emissions across the city."
