Robber jailed for six years after locking his victim in his flat

A VULNERABLE 59-year-old man was locked in his flat by a robber who tricked his way in, attacked him and stole his mobile phone.

Brett Czernozukow, 26, had knocked on the door of the flat at 5.30am pretending to be someone the man knew, Derby Crown Court was told.

When the man opened the door, Czernozukow, who had a scarf covering his face, grabbed the man's throat and demanded money.

Czernozukow, of Percy Street, Derby, then pushed his victim, who has mental health problems, to the floor and took his mobile phone, bank cards and house key.

The 26-year-old then left, locking the man in the first-floor flat.

The police arrived a few hours later after a neighbour reported hearing a lot of banging.

Czernozukow admitted robbery and also breaching a community order. He was jailed for six years.
