The Reggae Boyz are in a qualifying group with the United States, Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama and Mexico. Northern Ireland play a friendly in Malta the same day.
Ward, capped four times, recently returned to action following a three-month lay-off due to a hamstring injury.
He started against Nottingham Forest last Saturday and was substituted after 67 minutes.
"Jamie has been back for only a couple of games," said manager Nigel Clough. "Whether he will be fit enough to go on international duty, we'll have to wait and see because he has been out a long time."
