Chris Rogers was denied the chance to become the holder of

the record individual score by a Derbyshire player when he ran

out of partners on the final morning of their LV County

Championship match against Warwickshire at Edgbaston.

The Australian was left on 248 not out in a final score of 474

all out. It was the third highest score in the county's history

but 26 runs short of George Davidson's mark set in 1896.

Resuming on 462-7, the Derbyshire innings lasted only 23 balls

this morning.

Graham Wagg was caught at second slip by Darren Maddy off Boyd

Rankin for one and the next ball was edged by Charl Langeveldt

to be caught down the leg side by wicketkeeper Tim Ambrose.

Rogers did strike two more boundaries to take him to 34 fours

and one six in his 335-ball innings but Nayan Doshi was last

out, bowled not offering a shot to Ian Salisbury, who finished

with 5-99.

Warwickshire lost a wicket in the third over when Ian Westwood

played on to give Langeveldt his 50th Championship wicket of

the season but the second wicket did not come until the 50th

over, when Tony Frost was caught at slip off Wagg's left-arm

spin for 54 at 182-2.

Maddy was lbw to Dan Redfern for 138 and Jim Troughton lbw to

Wagg for three to the final ball of the match as Warwickshire

declared on 241-4.
