Roller-skate star Nathan Wright who had sex with 14-year-old schoolgirl fan in Derby car park is jailed for five years
A ROLLER-SKATING star has been jailed for five years after having sex with a schoolgirl fan in a city car park.
Nathan Wright had already had sexual contact with the 14-year-old when they arranged to meet at an event in Rollerworld in Mansfield Road, Derby, a court heard.
The court was told that, although the girl was in a group with adults, she managed to be alone with Wright, 26 – who skated to a worldwide audience at the opening of the 2012 London Olympics and the Paralympic Games.
Sitting at Derby Crown Court, Recorder Paul Mann QC told Wright: "You are known as an accomplished roller-skater and have your profile on the internet.

"You have, through your skating, the opportunity to become a role model for young people.
"There must be young people who have followed you who feel let down by the offences you have committed."
Wright was told he could not use the internet to contact anyone under 16 and was put on the sex offenders' register.
Edna Leonard, prosecuting, said Wright's skating skills featured on the YouTube website and the girl contacted him online, passing on her mobile phone number.
Miss Leonard said: "She got a text from the defendant and was clearly flattered by his interest in her."
The prosecutor said they started texting each other and it was clear the girl was 14.
The court was told Wright persuaded the girl to carry out a sex act on a webcam and he filmed himself performing a sex act and sent this to her.
The court heard that, when Wright went to another roller-skating event, he was approached by a number of girls wanting to be photographed with him. It was told the victim was among them and the pair slipped away to perform sex acts on each other.
Miss Leonard said they did not have full sex until the Derby meeting on October 21. Wright had told the girl to wear clothing which could be easily removed.
Wright, of Tooting, London, admitted sexual grooming and two counts of sexual activity with a child.
The court heard that he had previously been jailed for four-and-a-half years for a rape he committed when he was 18.
Jonathan Straw, in mitigation, said the girl was a willing partner in their meetings and had sexual experience before meeting him.
He said: "Before the text friendship developed, however inappropriately, there was genuine feeling on both sides. This is not a case where she was pressured.
"Unfortunately, the very rapid, almost explosive use of social networking among young people can give rise to this sort of difficulties."
