Rolls-Royce announces plans to cut up to 250 jobs
ROLLS-Royce is planning to cut between 200 and 250 jobs in Derby.
The job losses will be among support staff rather than those directly involved in the design and manufacture of engines.

Union Unite said that they is was shocked and disappointed by the decision.
Rolls-Royce told the Derby Telegraph that despite the potential redundancies, employment levels at its bases in Derby would remain constant or grow in the coming year.

“Support staff being the suits that walk around the shop all day in pairs carrying pieces of paper. The new jobs i imagine will be in production when the XWB comes online.”

“Could we have more detail on what RR term "support staff"?
And if overall number jobs are staying same or, indeed, rising (as the average person would expect given yesterday's news item) - where are the new jobs going to be? In manufacture? Design? And are people in Derby goingto get these jobs to maximise benefit to local economy?”
