DERBY aero engine-maker Rolls-Royce has opened a £50 million centre at Heathrow Airport to provide around-the-clock maintenance and support.

The firm's London Heathrow Service Centre will support all aircraft based at the airport which use Rolls-Royce Trent engines.

The 95,000sq ft facility includes a state-of-the-art engine workshop, four times larger than the previous Rolls-Royce service centre at Hatton Cross, Heathrow.

In the new centre, engineers will be able to work on up to 13 Trent engines at any one time, double the capacity of the previous facility.
