THIS week's Midweek Treat is a romantic comedy about a lonely man who finds his romantic spirits lifted by a new woman in his life.

Starring Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson, Last Chance Harvey tells the story of Harvey Shine, a frustrated jazz pianist turned jingle writer who has lost his passion and the respect of his soon-to-be-married daughter.

Following a chance meeting in the airport bar with unmarried spinster Kate Walker, the film follows their progressing relationship, as Kate persuades Harvey to attend his daughter's wedding reception and he agrees, on the condition that she will accompany him.

Last Chance Harvey is a heartfelt romance that celebrates new beginnings – at any age. In particular, Emma Thompson delights with her well-judged performance.
