Rowett ready to shake hands

GARY Rowett will offer his hand to Barnet manager Edgar Davids again ahead of tomorrow's game and says the spat they had at the end of December's match between the sides is irrelevant.

Davids, then the coach of the team, under Mark Robson, refused Rowett's hand at the end of Barnet's 3-2 win, claiming the Burton manager had been "disrespectful" to him.

"I've fallen out with many a manager already!" said Rowett.

"I'll step over the line occasionally and so will other managers – it's a passionate game.

"Paul Cook and I exchanged words at Chesterfield recently, for instance.

"But it's the same on the pitch. As players, you hate each other for 90 minutes and try to beat each other but it's forgotten straight after and you shake hands.

"I did have a spat with Edgar Davids. It was all in the heat of the moment.

"But I respect what he's done at Barnet and I'll offer him my hand, wish him luck and invite him to have a drink with me afterwards."
