Saga of blocked drain has gone on for too long
QUESTION: how long does it take to unblock a drain?
Answer: if left to Derby City Council, more than 25 years and still counting.
I have lived in my house which overlooks a tenants' car park since it was built in the late 1970s.
After about five years, the surface water drain got blocked. Within a couple of days, two men in a van came to clear it, found they were not equipped to do so and went away again.

And so the saga begins.
Every 18 months or so, the men with their clipboards come along, stand around for half an hour making notes, and go away again.
The car park has got half-covered in water on a regular basis. So come on, Derby City Council. Don't you think 25 years is long enough for a works order to be raised and the problem to be resolved?

“They perhaps went away to wait for a yellow wheel on a stick to be invented - or a tablet computer!”

“The two men with clip boards probably went to park their council van down some quiet culdesack, read the paper and have a kip.”
