Sainsbury’s reports rising sales and customer numbers
SUPERMARKET chain Sainsbury’s has reported a rise in sales and a record number of customers.
The retailer, which has three supermarkets in Derby, this morning said that over the last 12 months, overall sales had risen 2.1% compared to a year ago.
The best sales growth came from non-food products, where profit margins are generally higher, with clothing sales up 20%.
The company also said that weekly customer transactions had increased by more than 800,000 year-on-year.
Sainsbury's, whose Derby stores are in Osmaston Park Road, Kingsway Retail Park and Wyvern Retail Park, will report its full-year profit figures in May.
