PUPILS at a Derbyshire school could soon have a new classroom, if planning permission is approved.

The governors at St Edward's Catholic Primary School, in Swadlincote, want to build an extension to provide a new classroom for year-one children.

An application submitted to South Derbyshire District Council also includes plans to level off part of the school playground which slopes down.

If permission is granted, drainage work would also be carried out at the Newhall Road site to prevent water-logging in the playground.
